Here at MMO Attack we love games. It’s what we do. We eat, drink, breathe, and sleep gaming. We’re always on the look out for the next big thing so we can give our audience the rundown. And, yes, also because we’d be playing them anyway. That’s why we put together our MMO Games list. Here you will find links to pages filled with some of the very best games out today. You’ll find games of all types too: MMOs, adventure games, strategy games and literally everything in between.

There are a number of reasons why we put together these pages. First, we want them to become a valuable resource for gamers to help them do what they do best–play. But we also wanted to signal that the the gaming industry is growing and changing. Most of the games you find here, whether they’re MMOs, MOBAs, Browser or console based–will be free-to-play and incredibly accessible. Afterall, you don’t need to drop $60 to gain entry to a decent game. In fact, the gaming industry is becoming more agile and inclusive for gamers all over the world.

And despite many of the games listed here being completely free-to-play, you’ll still find some of the most inventive and enthralling games on the market today. Take League of Angels II for example. League of Angels is a franchise that’s constantly pushing the boundaries of how a browser MMO can be defined, as well as what they’re capable of. You’ll see a similar approach to game design in Paladins, a hero shooter for PC and next gen consoles by Hi-Rez, the company behind SMITE. Paladins is a unique and fun entry to a genre that’s been blowing up since the release of Overwatch. And like League of Angels, it too is completely free to play.

Aion

Aion is a converted free-to-play 3D fantasy MMORPG from NCSoft set in the gorgeous world of Atreia. Home to the brave Asmodians and radiant Elyos, these two factions have turned on each other after an epic cataclysm divided their peoples. You must not only defend your kin from opposing factions, but also rid the world of an abyssal evil that promises to turn your world to rubble.

The game has a truly immersive environment, where players can fly through breathtaking scenery and explore a wonderfully diverse planet. With thousands of quests available and plenty of instanced dungeons, you may chose to dedicate your time to help the residents of Atreia, challenge yourself against the story line, or increase your skills in the profession of your choice. Also, challenge other players in PvPvE within the Abyss and Balaurea where the winning sides earn taxes and special items.

While Aika online has its faults it also adds a lot of interesting things to the genre. One of the most interesting things in Aika is its one of a kind pran system. The pran system is probably most similar to a pet system found in other MMORPG games.  There are 4 stages of a pran: Fairy, Child, Teenager, Adult. In addition to that there are 3 starting pran Air (Evasion), Water  (Defense), Fire (Attack).  In addition to just having a pran, each has their own personality depending on how you raise them! There is Cute, sassy, smart, spunky, tough and mean pran. It all depends on how you raise them what you feed them how much you talk to them adding to the replay value! 

Now to the PvP of the game! There are a few different PvP styles.  There is the 2 teams versus, 1 on 1 duels and for the good stuff the 1000 vs 1000 RvR PvP and the games castle siege mode! Castle siege is the high level guild PvP and its 1000 v 1000 RvR happens at various events throughout the course of the game. The fight is always on in the PvP channel a enemy nation can attack your nation at any time!

Age of Wushu

Age of Wushu is a free to play Fantasy MMORPG loosely based on the Ming Dynasty Period; Age of Wushu draws heavy inspiration from the Wuxia genre of Chinese fiction: while you’re not going to be fighting off dragons or demons, you will find yourself running across water, scaling buildings, and even exercising a bit of limited flight. See, that’s the first area in which Age of Wushu distinguishes itself: the combat system.

In order to fully understand combat, you’ll first need to understand the game’s class system; or rather, it’s lack of one. Age of Wushu tosses the idea of rigid, pre-set roles and classes out the window. Instead, each character can join one of the game’s eight Schools. Each school has its own martial style and skill-set, and laws by which each player needs to abide: these laws can include profession, inventory, and alcohol intake, among other things. Coupled with this, each school has a special internal skill which impacts your characters personal stats and abilities. The best part about this system is that you’re not locked into any particular school.

Age Of Conan

Explore the world of Hyboria in Age of Conan, Funcoms latest MMORPG title to adapt a free to play model. Based on the highly popular Conan franchise, the game lets you explore a world of magic and monsters as you battle your way through, using everything from a battle-axe to dark magic.

Age of Conan features twelve unique classes and 4 races all with in-depth skill trees and abilities that allow players to customize their character as they progress through the game.The combat in AoC is arguably one of the most interactive in the MMO universe, instead of the typical button mashing of 1-5, players choose how to swing their weapon and perform combo attacks to unleash stronger abilities. The combat system is heavily skill based which attracts many PvP fans to the game and the recent update including hardcore PvP servers has gone down really well with the community.PvP is a large part of Age of Conan, players can join free for all servers allowing for instant combat against other players almost anywhere in the game.

More reserved PvP fans get plenty of action in the form of Guilds and Siege Battles. Guilds are able to build or conquer Battle Keeps.  Siege Battles are large-scale combat scenarios where guilds fight each other in the hopes of claiming new territory or capturing better resource locations.

Age of Conan now offers a free to play model allowing players to download the client and play for free with minimal restrictions, you can progress through the game easily as a free player but you don’t gain access to some of the more unique mounts and raids. Funcom also recently introduced a micro transaction system in the form of a standard MMO item mall, a free to play player can use this item mall without needing to upgrade to a premium account.

AdventureQuest Worlds

AdventureQuest Worlds, or AQW for short, is a browser-based MMORPG from Artix Entertainment. AQW is one of the most popular fully featured browser MMORPGs on the market and regularly has thousands of players on at any one time. Adventure Quest Worlds was developed entirely in Adobe Flash and requires no micro-client to play, just head to the website and create a character!

Launched in late 2008, AdventureQuest Worlds has you choose between one of four starting classes: warrior, mage, healer, and rogue. You progress through the game by leveling up and adding stats to your character page. You can then make various abilities and better your attack powers, enhancements and classes. The game is filled with special events, raids, quests, loot, items, and gear.

You can play AdventureQuest Worlds absolutely free, however, a paid account can give you access to additional game content which you would normally not get to partake in. Micro-transactions are also prevalent in the game, and allow you to buy exclusive in-game items, and also real-life merchandise.

Adventure Time Battle Party is a browser based MOBA game from Cartoon Network. The game is built using the Unity Web Player, so it does not require any additional downloading or micro-client to play, which is great for such a casual type game. The goal of the game, as in every other MOBA game, is to take down the other teams base, while collecting more points than the enemies.

The game is fun, not only for Adventure Time fans, but for fans of the genre, who are looking for something a little less serious, and to mess around with during your free time. It features 15 playable characters from the TV show, including Finn, Jake, Ice King, Princess Bubblegum and more! Each hero has their own unique set of powers and attacks, and players can earns points which can get them different outfits, and different additional weapons.

Birth of Elements
Originally, the world was in chaos without lands, oceans, or skies. There was only coldness in the North and heat in the South. At the center, was a magnificent Tree of Life.

The Sky Goddess Una was born under the influence of cold and heat. Una was unhappy with the darkness, so she created four elements – earth, water, fire and wind by using the Tree of Life and four magic syllables. With these elements, Una created vast land, oceans and creatures.

Intelligent Lives
As time passed, there were gods, giants and elves. The gods and giants lived in harmony until the reign fight. After being defeated, the giants were exiled from Gods’ Garden. The elves were born from the Tree of Life.

To make a better world, the goddess carved figures out of wood based on her own figure and gave them life. Thus, a new species was born – human.

Una passed her wisdom to humans, elves and giants. Humans were good at creation. Elves were experts at learning and the giants who were simple-minded were natural battlers. Under the goddess’ blessing, they had a peaceful life.

Evil Dragon’s Plot
While Una was creating the world, the evil dragon born in the darkness was scheming to lock up Una, because it was unhappy that the darkness was replaced by the brightness. However, its plot was seen by Una. The evil dragon was imprisoned in a magical prison. The evil dragon cursed that one day the goddess would pay for this.

The Nightmare
The evil dragon’s chance finally came. The giants had been discontent since they were expelled from Gods’ Garden. A dark lord’s servant convinced the simple-minded giants that they would be the strongest as long as they pulled up the Tree of Life in the goddess’ garden. One day, the giants succeeded while the goddess was away. The Tree of Life withered and the elements without the energy source disappeared in the air.

Goddess’ Dusk
The world soon collapsed without the elements needed from the Tree of Life. The goddess supported the world and sealed the evil dragon in an abyss with all of her magic. Una was so tired. She left her body on the earth and put her mind to sleep. The blood from her body became the first flood in the world. Learning that they were deceived, the giants lifted up the mountains and created a shelter for people to make up for their wrongdoings. Using elven magic, the elves tried to stop the blood from spreading. Finally, the goddess’ divinity turned into stars protecting her kids. Her body became crystals buried in the deep abyss…

Beginning of Hope
The goddess left a final word before sleeping, “You are water, fire, wind and earth. All will return to chaos until you are recreated when doom comes.” Her message reveals that the crystals formed from the goddess’ body can be reunited to save this land. If the four elements can be summoned again, the world will recover to what it was.

Hundreds of years later, only the elders in surviving villages pass on the goddess’ prophecy. Eventually, humans found out that underground crystals contain massive power. At the same time, the evil dragon sealed in the abyss has summoned dark creatures to find the crystals so it can break away from the goddess’ shackles.

Absolute Force Online (AFO) is a new free-to-play online shooter developed by TQ Digital, a leading Chinese online gaming company that created Conquer Online and Eudemons Online. Built on the Unreal Engine 3, AFO supports intense combat, real-time dynamic simulation and impressive graphics. 8realms is a browser based MMORTS game and has persistent real time strategy elements throughout. Jagex has really created a beautiful world here with 8Realms, with bright green valleys and very detailed models. The company previously developed another massively multiplayer online RTS called War of Legends, which took place in the ancient world of Chinese mythology. These guys really know how to create a true browser MMORTS that is easy to pick up and play, but can get advanced for veteran players.
