Wii U console retailing no less than $300?

A new report has suggested that the new console for the Wii will cost at least $300 at retail. The cost of manufacturing the console looks to be around $180 according to a source, who is closely involved for manufacturing and distributing Nintendo products. The controller’s total bill of materials and components is no more than $50.

Future of Sony looking kind of bleak

The future of Sony is not looking so good according to the company’s forecast for the end of March 2012. The annual loss they have predicted was 520 billion yen ($6.4bn) net loss, which was double of its previous estimate of 220bn yen. This has been a record loss for the company.

Gears of War Kinect title officially cancelled

Epic Games designer director, Cliff Bleszinkski, says the rumoured Gears of War Kinect title has been unannounced during a recent interview with Gamespot. The rumours had started surfacing as a result of Epic Games filing for a trademark for the title in January of last year. There was very little known about the Gears of War: Exile, but it was to be a Kinect title.

Grand Theft Auto V to launch this October, according to Rockstar employee’s LinkedIn profile

This isn’t the first time a game developer’s LinkedIn profile has sparked rumors in the industry, and it won’t be the last time. The current controversy was caused by character animator Alex O’Dwyer at Edinburgh-based Rockstar North. According to his LinkedIn profile, and the since-removed CV he uploaded to it, Grand Theft Auto V is due to ship in October of this year.
