Here at MMO Attack we love games. It’s what we do. We eat, drink, breathe, and sleep gaming. We’re always on the look out for the next big thing so we can give our audience the rundown. And, yes, also because we’d be playing them anyway. That’s why we put together our MMO Games list. Here you will find links to pages filled with some of the very best games out today. You’ll find games of all types too: MMOs, adventure games, strategy games and literally everything in between.

There are a number of reasons why we put together these pages. First, we want them to become a valuable resource for gamers to help them do what they do best–play. But we also wanted to signal that the the gaming industry is growing and changing. Most of the games you find here, whether they’re MMOs, MOBAs, Browser or console based–will be free-to-play and incredibly accessible. Afterall, you don’t need to drop $60 to gain entry to a decent game. In fact, the gaming industry is becoming more agile and inclusive for gamers all over the world.

And despite many of the games listed here being completely free-to-play, you’ll still find some of the most inventive and enthralling games on the market today. Take League of Angels II for example. League of Angels is a franchise that’s constantly pushing the boundaries of how a browser MMO can be defined, as well as what they’re capable of. You’ll see a similar approach to game design in Paladins, a hero shooter for PC and next gen consoles by Hi-Rez, the company behind SMITE. Paladins is a unique and fun entry to a genre that’s been blowing up since the release of Overwatch. And like League of Angels, it too is completely free to play.

Exoplanet War

Exoplanet War is a new browser based MMORTS game set in a distant universe where science fiction is reality. Exoplanet War offers players the choice of playing as one of three unique races, Gaians, Zubens and Neckrons, all with their own design and style of buildings and units.Unlike most free to play browser games, Exoplant War is set in a technologically advanced era where 3 civilizations are fighting for control of vital planets in order to sustain their energy supplies.

The game hosts a variety of interesting mechanics such as the 72 hour newbie protection system but the more interesting parts of Exoplanet war lie within the Commander system. Commanders are unique, individual units that march your armies into battle. Each Commander can gain experience and increase in strength, as well as learn new abilities and spells. Commanders are not limited to any particular race or unit and can be Infantry, Vehicle or even Air.

Once you’ve built your army and chosen your Commander’s, you can add specific improvements and abilities to practically any unit under your command via an in depth research and development system revolving around one of the constructed buildings. These elements, combined with the fresh, science fiction settings makes Exoplanet War quite a nice change to the typical medieval settings used in other free to play MMORTS browser games.

One of the most interesting aspects of the game is the way your army is sent to war. A large number of MMORTS games require a substantial time investment before you’re fully able to pose any kind of military threat but Exoplanet War has you fighting battles within a few moments and doesn’t punish new players for a few bad decisions early on.

Evony

Evony II is a 2D strategy browser MMO with a medieval setting. The game was originally launched in 2009 and it grew pretty fast through aggressive marketing and advertising on one end and classic, yet polished game elements at the other end.

In Evony II players must gather four different resources build their city, keep the population happy and in general manage this urban universe in a tycoon-like fashion. However, this is not the ultimate goal of the game, but that of conquering the world. In order to do that players must address military and diplomatic issues: build troops, make alliances and eventually make war against neighboring cities.

The game?s micro-transaction system is pretty common, but since this is at its core a PvP oriented game, the offers of the in-game store tend to make huge differences in a conflict. With the help of the game?s currency called ?cent? players can ignore the building time of a new construction, they can instantly gain extra resources and in general perform actions which gives the upper hand.

Evony II doesn?t reinvent the genre, but manages to do a nice job with the classic browser based strategy MMO recipe. The game looks good, is entertaining, and doesn?t take a lot of time to understand or play. Its only flaw is related to ?the dark side? of the free-to-play business model, a side unfortunately unavoidable especially for a browser MMO.

Pros: A good social environment with cut-throat politics.

Cons: People using bots and alternate accounts. Risk of total loss of cities/resources/heroes when left alone overnight.

EverQuest Next: Landmark

This free-to-play MMORPG combines a sandbox environment, a heavy environment manipulation and building focus, as well as crafting and PvP to create an immersive experience for fans of the series.

Let your imagination rule as you gather resources and craft weapons, tools, building materials, and so much more. Build anything from a small wooden hut in the woods to a hillside castle, or join other players and combine your efforts to create player-run towns.

EverQuest Next

Tagged as the largest sandbox to date, Sony promises that this next-gen title will revolutionize and reinvigorate the EverQuest Series. Unfortunately, not much information is available regarding its release.

Sony Online Entertainment LLC released the 11th expansion for EverQuest II (EQII), Altar of Malice . Announced at SOE Live earlier this year, the expansion coincides with the 10th anniversary of the renowned massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Altar of Malice brings players a bevy of new content to explore, including new Overlands, 14 Heroics, six Advanced Solos, two Contested, six Raids, four new Avatars, and an increase in Level Cap to 100.

STORYLINE: Norrath enters a new age, one darkened by the cold war between Freeport and Qeynos. The end of the last age cost them both dearly and neither can risk making the first move…yet. Outside powers can help them rebuild, like the Far Seas Trading Company, but lately its ports have run mysteriously silent. Emissaries sent from the cities have gone missing and any scout sent to investigate does not return.

Only the bravest adventurers will take on the quest to journey across the mysterious Shattered Seas to face monstrous deinodons, pint-sized yet perilous pygmies, bone-armored lizard men, salty pirates, and other new creatures lurking amongst the shadows. And while there are dangers on the waters, beware the thickening evil plot growing deep in the Kithicor Woods. Its maliciousness could make even the undead’s skin crawl…

The Darkened Sea Expansion Has Arrived!

Sony Online Entertainment released the latest installment in a long line of EverQuest expansions, The Darkened Sea, the 21st expansion to release since the games launch in 1999. As the latest addition to the ongoing “Year of EverQuest” campaign, The Darkened Sea promises players the opportunity to celebrate the games 15th anniversary in true style with the return of iconic characters and storylines through re-designed environments, all new locations and an increase in level cap to level 105.

The Darkened Sea sees 6 brand new zones introduced to EverQuest alongside 2 re-imagined zones that were previously available in the game. Arx Mentis, Brother Island, the Caverns of Endless Song, Combine Dredge, Degmar, Katta Castrum, Tempest Temple & Thuliasur Island deliver a mix of exciting new content and nostalgia with a careful blend of storytelling, difficult encounters and varying rewards.

The Darkened Sea also increases the maximum level to 105, accompanied by the necessary gear and equipment to offer additional incentive on the journey. New spells, AAs, items, quests, missions and raids have also been released.

[/review] Everlight is a browser-based, fantasy action role-playing game that takes place in an ancient fantasy world where lost civilizations, myths and legends aren’t just hearsay, but an everyday reality.  

In the game you will take on the role of the forsaken offspring of the Titans.  Your journey will take you along the paths of Greek mythology and you unravel the myths and mysterious that the world has entrusted on to you.  You will come across many other mythologies like the Mayans and hack and slash your way through the lost city of Atlantis.

EVE Online explores a distant future in which a surge in population forces humanity to explore the galaxy in order to find resources that have become scarce on Earth. While on their search, the humans stumble upon a wormhole that leads them to the distant New Eden galaxy. With the promise of abundant resources, colonies begin to settle the new worlds only to find themselves stranded after a sudden wormhole collapse. Without contact from Earth, the colonies are left, isolated, even from one another. As time passes, five major civilizations rise to form the factions of EVE Online.

EVE Online is a sandbox MMORPG in which players are allowed to explore a universe filled with planets, asteroids, ships, wormholes, and more. With thousands of different star systems to explore and hundreds of thousands of other players to encounter, there are limitless things to do in New Eden — a game world that is completely player driven. What makes EVE so unique is that every player plays on the same server, meaning that CCP Games can craft the story around actual game events and have it be relevant to everyone playing. Best of all, when the game gets over crowded, new content can be added to accommodate the larger numbers.

Players choose between four different races for each of their (up to three) characters. Customization extends further by defining bloodline and customizing appearance features. Progression is not achieved through defeating enemies, but rather through a training process that can occur whether the player is online or not. This unique approach to advancement allows players to enhance the abilities they prefer, as they see fit.

Battles can occur between both other players and NPCs. Players do not control their ships manually, but rather they give commands and watch the battle play out in real time. Weaponry is controlled in much the same way and the damage done is a resulting culmination of factors such as range, velocity, and weaponry used.

Because of the open-world sandbox format of the game, many actions that would be considered griefing in other MMOs are allowed in EVE Online. Such actions include stealing, extorting, and causing opponent death via large groups of NPCs. CCP Games has stated that they have no intention to moderate such actions as the added free will simply adds to the experience.

EVE Online is one of the most exciting and expansive Sci-Fi Space MMORPG experiences on the market today. Despite its current subscription based monetization model, the game offers enough enthralling and captivating content to justify the commitment.

Eredan is a social fantasy themed online trading card game MMO. Players compete against each other to become the ultimate warrior.  Your goal is to duel other players using your magical deck of cards.  Purchase boosters and wield powerful weapons and spells as you create and customize your hand.  Intense battles and tactful strategy are keys to proving to the world that you have what it takes to be the last hero standing.

Eredan takes on a medieval fantasy theme.  Players are to become heroes in a world where it?s hard to distinguish the difference between friend and foe. Creatures of darkness have begun to terrorize a land already torn apart by war, and  a leader must be forged. Using a simulation similar to the mechanics of a physical card game, players create their own deck of characters and spells to play against others in a duel to the death. Win matches, upgrade heroes, and participate in tournaments.

Although comparable to other TCG’s like Carte, this game features Facebook integration which allows users to connect with their Facebook friends or make new ones through the game. There is a wide selection of cards to collect and trade. Hundreds of different spell and weapon combinations make for thousands of unique playing styles and strategies.  Many cards are unique to certain classes and many characters providing bonus stats to different cards. Each signature hero card displays the character?s race, class, and guild. The game also features six multi-classes combining the Priest, Mage, Warrior, and Marauder class that are available as players advance.

End of Nations is a MMORTS game in a time when it is hard to find a great RTS title. The game’s story starts with a totalitarian regime taking over the world after a major crash of the world?s economy. Build armies with your friends, or against your friends in this free to play title made by Petroglyph Games.

The place where End of Nations really shines is it?s MMO side. There are a lot of different scaled battles, that include up to 28 vs 28 player matches and get as intimate as 1v1 heart pounding standoffs. The large scale matches with 56 different armies battling against one another is confusing and yet somehow satisfying once you understand the battlefield. With multiple different kinds of troops, End of Nations is a controlled chaos that will fascinates any RTS fan.

There are also a ton of different kinds of play modes. These modes include a different PvP battles like Base Domination, Base Assault, Domination and Last Man Standing that are full of strategic madness. There is also a few modes that are co-op though. These game modes, Campaign and Survival, have teams of four players grouping up and holding their bases against full frontal assaults by large tank like enemies. Working together is the only way to do these missions successfully and any weak link will punish the whole team in a significant way.

It?s good to see a real attempt at a MMORTS that isn’t based around paying to play. There are certain elements that remind you that End of Nations is a free 2 play game, but the experience is enjoyable. If you love large scale battles, or just love RTS games in general, take a peek at End of Nations today.

Empire Universe III

Empire Universe III is a free to play browser based MMORTS game with wonderful sci-fi elements. In the game you are put in charge of your own empire on a far away galaxy in which you must lead to prosper. You have several choices on the way to play the game, you can either be a bully and conquer every player you come across, or you could be a wealthy trader and build up riches using a more modest approach, or you can build many strong alliances to take out enemies in groups.

In Empire Universe III you have nine different races to choose from and four separate roles for each race. You can control up to five total planets while you create your empire and compete against others to lead the in-game ranking system.

Empire Universe II is a browser-based sci-fi MMORPG where you can chose your own path in the galaxy.  As a player you have the choice whether to act aggressively or peacefully. The intuitive access makes it easy for beginners to achieve initial success and to find their way in the universe. Once in the game you have all the options: Occupy and savage planets, invest in research or trade with other players. Empire Universe 2 has a huge emphasis on alliances and offers single player as well as large groups, long-lasting fun.

In Empire Universe II you will use your warships to fight real time battles against hundreds of opposing players.  You must train ground troops to act as your last line of defence for when your warships have been destroyed.  Choose your alignment, through the actions you take in the game you can become a scientist, pirate, warrior, trader and bounty hunter. With over 120,000 planets in 10,000 sectors there is plently of space for everyone.

There are 9 different races with their own unique stats and starting places in the galaxy map. Collect 10 different resources via mining asteroids and wreckages or through your planet?s resource mines, customise 21 different spaceship chassis with over 66 components allowing for a lot of room for experimenting. With 146 different technologies to research it is a long spanning game that cannot be either won or lost.

There is a strong focus on allied gameplay and it promoted teamplay whether you decide to join one of the many empires out there or create your own.

Empire Online is a free-to-play mobile MMORPG from Lakoo available on both iOS and Android devices. The game boasts over 12 million players worldwide and features classic turn-based game battles. Embers of Caerus

Embers of Caerus (EoC) is a medieval fantasy sandbox MMORPG currently under development by Forsaken Studios. On June 19,2012, Forsaken Studios closed the books on a crowd-funding campaign goal of $25,000, raising $46,050 to continue production.

In Embers of Caerus, players will immerse themselves in a world of freedom and danger, guided along by a gripping main story-line that takes place over a millennium. Players will have the ability to create everything from weapons and armor to vehicles and ships, as well as homes and shops eventually building up to a player-ran town, city or kingdom. Players will also be given the choice to either restore an old world religion or create their own unique religion and god! You may chose to rebuild one of 12 available factions, or create your own entirely.

Embers of Caerus will not feature a classes or levels, instead focusing on a skill-based character system. The harsh environment will be unforgiving, forcing players to be resourceful and clever in their survival, and the many creatures, magical beings, demons and gods will make surviving a challenge. But, that’s not your only worry! PvP will also be available with full-looting rights.
