Roblox

Roblox

If you like playing Lego, Roblox is the perfect game for you. Roblox is a mixture between a mini-game site and a social networking in which players can build and explore Lego-like worlds while enjoying the company of other players. Roblox has no game-goals, but encourages creativity and socialization. The game was developed and published by Roblox Corporation.

It was first released in 2005.The game allows players to construct and develop their own world, but they must learn a scripting language called Lua. For those interested and with enough patience, Roblox represents an interesting game.

There are a few game modes in which players can take part of and have fun. Some require players to move on narrow platforms, jump from platform to platform in order to reach the end, while others allow players to enter arenas where they can kill each other using various weapons such as swords, bombs, bazookas and so on.

Roblox also features chat rooms, where players can just sit and have a conversation, mini-game rooms and tons of different ways to keep players entertained. Like other free-to-play games it comes with premium content that require a subscription.

Roblox is a simple sand-box MMO which focuses on creativity and socialization. Connectivity problems might test the patience of the players, and the graphics may seem a bit too simplistic, but for those looking to have a good, casual gaming time, Roblox will meet their desires.

Rise of Mythos

Rise of Mythos

Rise of Mythos is the re-branding of Kings and Legends Global. The publishers felt that with some of the drastic changes that took part during its first few months of release that the name no longer fit quite right. So what has changed since the game launched? Well they have upgraded the game-play which is both very easy to grasp for players, but also difficult to master, they’ve added new, unique cards and factions as well as added plans on looking into myths from many different cultures.

Rise of Mythos speaks to the global nature of the game, not just for those around the world who play it, but the fact that many different cultures are represented within the game.

Rise of Incarnates

Rise of Incarnates

In Rise of Incarnates, you play as these powerful humans, that have the ability to transform into a creature, or summon a being to assist you in battle. So far six characters have been announced, with more to come.

Rise of Immortals (RoI) by Petroglyph Games is a 3D, top-down multiplayer battle arena game in which players chose an Immortal to utilize in battle against other characters. While sticking close in formula to other MOBA style games, RoI sets itself apart through a number of elements: the social structure and progression systems being the most notable.

After selecting an Immortal, players are dropped into a social hub world where they can chat, shop, show off their character and view leaderboards. Games are initiated through this hub world and players are returned to it upon completion of their game. This offers a friendly change of pace from the menus and chat rooms of other games for those looking to have a more personal experience with teammates and opponents.

The game also features persistent character progression. Instead of an account-based leveling system, as players gain experience, they are able to customize a persistent skill tree through which they can progress their character in the way they see fit. These unlocked unique abilities stay consistent from match to match.

While players are given the option to participate in PvP matches of up to five players per team, those less confident in their skill can build their character through the PvE system as well. This presents a great opportunity to try out new abilities or gain more experience before moving on to the more competitive world of PvP.

This game is no longer playable. It was closed to give way to Battle for Graxia.

RIFT

RIFT

Back when RIFT originally hit the Internet, a lot of people were talking about how it had the potential to be the game that finally killed World of Warcraft. Unfortunately, like so many titles before it, RIFT failed to live up to everyone’s lofty expectations. It simply wasn’t engaging enough to stick up to the reigning champion, nor did Trion have the chops as a developer to oust Blizzard from their throne. That isn’t to say RIFT wasn’t a good game – it was quite possibly one of the best MMORPGs released in 2011, with an interesting story, a great world, and awesome dungeons/world invasions.

The most unique aspect of RIFT was without a doubt the Rift mechanic. Across the realm of Telara, areas of elemental instability have a tendency to crop up. Once these unstable portals open up, they begin to spawn monsters that will march forward on the map. left unchecked, these monsters will eventually conquer entire areas of the world map, killing NPCs and players alike and effectively making zones inaccessible until the rift is sealed.  In a similar style to Guild Wars 2’s public quests, players entering a Rift Zone will be prompted to join a public group to take down the rift, co-operating with others to seal off the instability and protect their realm.

Aside from that – and I’m sure I’ll catch a bit of flak for this one – RIFTS essentially plays like World of Warcraft, albeit slightly re-tooled. Any veteran of WoW or similar games will find the mechanics and controls immediately familiar and accessible, though the depth of class customization might be slightly bracing, at first. Players can choose one of four different callings at character creation: Warrior, Rogue, Cleric, or Mage. Each of these callings has eight different subsets, or “souls,” the progession of which is fully customizable: a player is able to choose up to three souls from their calling to access.

Unfortunately, the similarities shared between RIFTS and World of Warcraft ultimately proved to be its downfall, and in June of last year, Trion Worlds finally decided to make the leap from a subscription-based model to a free-to-play system. Thankfully, Trion’s done a fairly good job of implementing its cash shop, and it’s more or less a carbon copy of the system in place in EverQuest. Although it does allow you to purchase in-game equipment, none of these items are impossible to earn for non-paying players.

RIFT might not have killed World of Warcraft, but it certainly proved itself a worthy competitor. If you’ve a few hours to kill, why not download it for yourself? Who knows – you might enjoy it. Besides, you don’t really have anything to lose, right? It IS free, after all.

Nexon America and WeMade Entertainment invite players to embark on the ride of their life in Riders of Icarus, an upcoming free-to-play action-adventure MMORPG featuring exhilarating aerial combat unlike anything ever seen before in the genre. Players take flight on the backs of fantastical beasts, ranging from ferocious bears to fire-breathing dragons, to fight by both land and air in the unprecedented experience MMO players have been waiting for.

“With Riders of Icarus, we want to bring an all-new action element to MMORPGs: Thrilling aerial combat,” said Seok Hoon, producer, WeMade Entertainment. “There are many games with dragons and other flying mounts, but they hardly ever impact battles in a meaningful and entertaining way.  In Riders of Icarus, mounts truly add another level of challenge and excitement, delivering expansive vertical gameplay in addition to action-oriented ground mount combat.”

In Riders of Icarus, players will explore a vast, majestic and ever-expanding world where they can collect and train hundreds of different wild beasts, taming them to become rideable mounts with unique special abilities.  As a legendary Rider, with renowned combat abilities, players will coordinate with other heroes both in the air and on the ground to engage in theatrical boss battles utilizing the game’s frenetic action-oriented melee combo system.  With hundreds of ground and aerial mounts to collect, the sky is no longer the limit for the Riders of Icarus, who fight to protect mankind from an ancient invading evil.

Beginning Thursday, Jan. 28 and running through Tuesday, Feb. 2, Nexon America is hosting a beta test for local servers in North America and Mexico. A larger closed beta test will follow at a later date for North America, Mexico, Europe and Australia/New Zealand.

RF Online, originally named ‘Rising Force’, is a free-to-play 3D MMORPG developed by game company CCR. The game is a mixture of science fiction and classic fantasy, RF Online is set in a distant planet in the Novus system where magic exists alongside high technology. Like most MMORPGs it follows the typical fantasy setting complete with swords and sorcery, but it also emphasizes the three-way Race vs. Race vs. Race (RvRvR) concept and modern/futuristic technology such as mecha and nuclear weapons.

As with many MMORPGs, the player will select one race and fight monsters to gain experience points. RFO is populated with many different monsters across many areas.

Your character will be led through an in-game guide at the start of the game, going over some of the basic commands. From there, you will be exposed to a series of quests which will familiarize him/her with their character’s headquarters. As you progress in levels you will be taken to more aggressive maps and then will be exposed to the player killer features of the game.  There is one quest in particular that sends you to the Sette Desert where you will be aware of the constant presence and danger of enemy races.

There are 3 character races which the player can choose: Bellato, Cora and Accretia.  Every race has their own special sub-classes of characters to play based on warrior, ranger, specialist and each race’s special classes. It is also possible to cross-class a character within the races for a wide variety of options. Each race is led by the archon, a player voted into power by other players. Below the archon are four councillors. These Councillors are determined based on the number of votes received during their run for archonship. Archon positions last one week, at the end of which voting will commence again.

Repulse gives players three classes to choose from, each with different skills, equipment, and weapons.  With various game modes, the 16-player matches will never become tiring, especially with the customization of your character through different loadouts, allowing you to make a character for any situation.  Dynamic abilities like jumping, dodge jumping, booster jumping and cloaking make this game play very unique for a first person shooter.  Maps come in various sizes and locals, including futuristic cities, factories, military bases, and alien worlds. Repulse is the kind of MMOFPS that fans have been waiting for.
