Bit surprise from the DayZ camp, the next update has been
delayed!  They should change the name to Delayed
Z, amiright?  Just kidding, I stole that
from one of the comments.  Anyways, the
latest update that went live yesterday was scrapped at the last minute because
of a bug that made players unable to loot corpses.  That’s kind of a big deal in this game if you
didn’t know.  The team hopes to fix the update
soon, which will bring a number of other fixes and adjustments including the
addition of some much anticipated items like the Shotgun, Hacksaw and the new
harbor town Svetloyarsk.

Today Square Enix announced a preview event for the upcoming
2.2 update in A Realm Reborn.  The
previous update that included player housing and end-game content might be
tough to follow up but the team has scheduled a special live video event for
January 25th to focus on the release.
Among the things we can expect are ‘The Coming of Leviathan’ primal
event and additional details on the PlayStation 4 release.  If you care to wake up at 4AM PST this
Saturday, you too can be the first to hear the details!

 Facepunch Studios
founder Garry Newman has a lot to celebrate following the successful Early
Access launch of Rust.  According to the
developer, Rust has earned over half of the revenue that his first title,
Garry’s Mod, has earned in the past 9 years.
To put that in perspective, Rust has been on Steam’s Early Access for just
over a month.  What is Rust?  Rust is an Indie RPG game where your only aim
is to survive.

Blade & Soul

Blade and Soul

Blade & Soul is a oriental martial arts fantasy MMO currently under development, but building a following quickly. Blade & Soul boasts a beautiful combination of fast-paced action-packed combat, impressive PvP, magnificent scenery, and an arsenal of special moves and attacks that work together to make Blade & Soul an exciting game to play. Based on the visual styling of critically acclaimed artist Hyung-Tae Kim, the world of Blade & Soul looks and feels like an expansive version of Onimusha mixed with Soul Calibur in an open world.

Blade & Soul is being developed by Korean based online, video, and mobile game developer NCsoft. The game is currently available in Asia, and is pending a U.S. release.

League of Legends Bot Lane Synergy – Ashe and Zyra

Bottom Lane Synergies between your Support and AD Carry can help get your team off to a great start.  This week on League of Legends Bot lane Synergies we take a look at Ashe and Zyra.

Hello Summoners and Welcome to MMO ATK’s League of Legends Bot Lane Synergies.  We are your hosts, Ashley and TJ.  On Today’s Episode we’re covering the CC heavy kite-queens Ashe and Zyra.  Ashe and Zyra were made popular by Cloud 9 last year with great success, by dominating bot lane on several occassions.
Ashe is the queen of slows, with no escape but has incredible kite potential. Her late game can carry the team to victory, not to mention that she’s the only AD Carry with a 3.5 second stun.  Which is awesome in many situations!  Zyra also has incredible CC to complement Ashe’s kiting.  She has a long range snare with plants that slow.  Her ultimate has the ability to zone the whole team, while knocking them up simultaneously.
Together Ashe and Zyra have extreme in-lane poke potential, with the ability to peel off the jungler from ganking.  With Ashe’s hawk shot and Zyra’s seed they have complete bot lane vision control, even without wards.  In-team fights they can control the tide of battle with their CC, allowing their team to take the advantage.

You’d think when a game is approaching its tenth anniversary
it would be a time for celebration.  But
that’s not the case as Lineage II fans are scoffing at the new Hero Coins
update.  Hero Coins is a reward system
that entices players to purchase additional items from the in-game cash shop,
with the promise of further rewards.
Which sounds all well and good until you read the fine print.  All coins are restricted to the specific
character that received the initial purchase, and coins expire at the end of
the year.  Also the amount of Hero Coins
required to get additional items is huge, with some of the more expensive
purchases requiring over $35,000 dollars spent.
A little rich for my taste.

Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen has revised some of its stretch
goals for their Kickstarter project.  The
campaign which launched last week has attracted over $180,000 so far, which is
well short of its $800,00 funding goal, but there’s still time.  The revamped stretch goals were in response
to community demand and are aimed to be more realistic with both price points
and what players can expect.  The changes
can be noted on their Kickstarter campaign.

Edge of Reality recently announced the official launch date
for their humerous, free to play MMOTPS Loadout.  The game has been in Steam’s Early Access
program for some time now, but January 31st will mark the first day that all
players can enjoy the hectic action.
Loadout is a combination of both old school TPS mechanics with the depth
and customization that players love form today’s top AAA titles.  Let’s hope that Loadout does not suffer the
same fate as Offensive Combat, which is another humerous type shooter that shut
down last week.

Following the latest update to Blizzard’s Hearthstone, lead
designer Eric Dodds took to the official website to explain how they are
tackling card balancing.  Balance is
incredibly important in the world of MMOs, but especially in the trading card
genre, as the cards represent 100% of in-game mechanics.  Of the most interesting points in the post
are the nerfing of the one turn kill cards, changing of the mana rules and
slight changes to cards that many considered overpowered.

Mounted combat is finally upon us in SOE’s Dragon’s
Prophet.  The latest trailer shows off
just how mounted combat works, and shows incredible action shots of both on
ground and in-air combat.  Now, mounted
combat in MMOs is not a new thing,  you
can find it in Lord of the Rings Online, but it’s definitely a step in the
right direction in immersion for a game that’s all about your dragon.  Additional updates in Dragon’s Prophet
include a new legendary dungeon, new bosses and more!

The latest edition of The Old Republic Insider offers a
behind the scenes look at the latest Galactic Starfighter update, the Kuat
Drive Yard Flashpoint Missions, as well as the next round of Cartel Market
Items coming to Star Wars the Old Republic.
The video also teases a new event as well as some upcoming content
updates coming to the game.  Check out
that video via the link below!

Empire Online

Empire Online

Empire Online is a free-to-play mobile MMORPG from Lakoo available on both iOS and Android devices. The game boasts over 12 million players worldwide and features classic turn-based game battles. A good strategy will be key in defeating your friends, enemies and conquering the game’s more than 1,000 missions.

Players will have access to a massive variety of weapons, armor and other equipment through completing missions and building their empire. Over 6,000 unique items allow players to create a character that looks and plays unique according to their preferences. A character’s class will determine their base role when starting out, but that class does not limit the potential of a character! All skills can be learned cross-class. Combine items of any different sort to truly make your character your own.

In-game events are held on a regular basis in Empire Online to create new challenges for players and to give unique opportunities to earn new equipment. Use these items on your own character or trade them to others for other needed items or for money. Creating and overseeing your own business trades is just one of the benefits of playing in a mobile MMORPG setting like Empire Online.

More over, Empire Online’s mobile MMORPG capabilities allow players band together. Joining forces increases your power, which in turn will help you expand your empire beyond anything you thought possible. You can get by on your own, but you can thrive and excel with friends by your side.

Black Desert

Black Desert

Black Desert is a Korean fantasy MMORPG developed by Pearl Abyss that is currently in its closed beta testing stage. It takes place in a fantasy world where two rival nations are constantly in conflict, the Republic of Calpheon and the Kingdom of Valencia. There are three confirmed races, the Elves, Humans, and Giants; and two races coming soon, the Dwarves and Hobbits. The characters of each respective race are beautifully designed and very detailed to fit seamlessly into the crowded contemporary medieval cities, towns, villages, and overall environment of Black Desert Online.

This game thrives due to its arsenal of features. The weather system is true to life creating realistic environments where players are affected by climate conditions. This system goes hand in hand with the farming, fishing, and breeding features available in-game. A player cannot fish in the desert or grow fruits because it’s unnatural to the environment and climate, but it is possible to raise camels there because the conditions are appropriate. The day and night system in Black Desert works in cycles, where shopkeepers and civilians go about their business in the day and many return to their homes at night. The transition from day to night is progressive, with dawn and dusk visible as the dates transition.

Black Desert is building hype quickly and with good reason. It’s currently unavailable in the U.S., but this is one of the games you must look out for if you’re looking for an immersive and cutting-edge MMORPG.
