Battlerite Announced, Rising Thunder’s Dead, Dark Omen and more! | The XP 3.11.2016

What’s up Attackers! Kirk here with your weekly block of MMO news. On today’s episode we have Battlerite, Black Desert Online, Rising Thunder, Skyforge, Albion Online and much much more! Actually take one one of the Much’s. Just much more! The XP, starts now!

Stunlock Studios announced this week that they have teamed up with Sanctum and the Goat Simulator developers Coffee Stain Studios to create Battlerite, a new, “TEAM vs TEAM brawler” that is intended to be Bloodline Champions’ spiritual successor. All “random elements” have been stripped from the game’s mechanics. It boasts short, intense matches and a high skill ceiling. A diverse cast of characters promises to give rookies and veterans alike a character they can comfortably play. In addition there will be a so called “fan system” that will allow a form of direct interaction with spectators that are part of the crowd. Players will be able to win the crowd, even if they don’t win the battle. The trailer does not show too much, aside from four champions, and excuse me, I never played Bloodline Champions, but it looks like it may only be 2v2 based on what we see here. You can find more information on the official website, but i’ll give you a quick rundown. It shows only four different champions: Croak, Shift, Freya, and Ashka, One different map, but question marks indicating at least two more, and that’s about it. Cool logo, and name actually. Battle rite.

Dam will be increasing Black Desert Online’s server capacity soon. As we saw via a tweet this week from Black Desert Online to a fan who complained that their server was ridiculously overloaded. Many players share the same resentment, with random disconnects to t he game, lag issues and mob spawn issues, which totally ruin any chance for enjoyment. The Tweet doesn’t give any additional information as to when it might be happening or to what capacity, but at least they are aware of the grief issues that the game is causing fans and are working on fixing those.

Radiant Entertainment this week announced via a newsletter to all of us Rising Thunder alpha participants that their action fighting game from ex-Capcom combat advisor Seth Killian will be shutting down on March 18th. Why may you ask? Well, besides the game being .. meh .. the studio was acquired by none other than Riot Games! Oh man, why would Riot buy them? I dunno, maybe Riot is working on a Fighting Game and they want it to Feature League Characters and they just want to get a head start? Or maybe they are just dicks and want to kill off new free to play games before they get off the ground. Probably the first, but .. I dunno. The newsletter did mention that the dev will be re-assigned to a new game that they are incredibly excited about. I guess we’ll know soon enough.

It has been about a month since Skyforge’s last major update, March of Knowledge, and Allods Team has announced another update called Dark Omen. The update will see an overhaul of Operations. Operations will be shorter in length and the “top players” will be allowed to skip them. Players that make it to one million tokens will now have access to a new progression bar. The Elder God questline will be introduced. Players will be tasked with “[learning] what it takes to become an Elder God” while continuing to fight off Mechanoid Invasions. Additionally, Pantheons will be given an option to merge together. Regardless of the size of the respective Pantheons, they will be able to combine both their members and resources into one larger Pantheon. AND The invasion symbol interface will be streamlined during the update. They will be given their own interface in order to make it quicker and easier to select them. As part of this update, invasion symbols will no longer be reset when you reset “‘regular’ symbols.” Also there was a new Knight Trailer released earlier this month, which you’re watching now. More information about the update—including the full patch notes—is set to be revealed as March 16th draws nearer.

We’ve been talking about Albion Online for what seems like forever now, and the team continues to amaze and excite as the nearly year long beta continues on. The latest upcoming patch called Cador will introduce a new death mechanics, mobile repairs, and zone-based fame and loot bonuses. The new death mechanic prevents instant death. It is explained that instant death mechanics caused issues for groups, making content even more difficult for the surviving members of the group when a member is killed and resurrected far away. Now, players will be knocked out first. And they must be continuously attacked in order to be killed—however, not all mobs will be interested in killing them. If their health points regenerate to full or someone resurrects them while they are knocked out, they will be able to get back up. A new item, the “Repair Kit”—will allow players to repair their items on the go. Rather than always having to do it in town. Repair Kits also cost more than a “full-fledged repair station” and have a limited amount of durability. Also, Fame and loot bonuses are now increased based on the zone. Green zones will allow you to reach “the highest Tiers of progression,” but your progress will be slow. Yellow zones and their Hellgates will grant 50% more fame and loot. Red and black zones and their Hellgates will grant a full 100% more fame and loot.

World of Tanks Update 9.14 is here and it is focused on refining the current user experience with refined physics, sound, and models. Vehicle physics have been improved significantly, so much so that players can now “skid, slide, flip tanks upside down,” and perform various other maneuvers. The sound engine has been ripped out and replaced with Audiokinetic Wwise (which, I’m not sure if it’s a typo or what). Sound is now said to be “processed on a different core,” allowing 10-30 unique sounds simultaneously. A new set of sounds recorded using “authentic vehicles at a real proving ground” have been introduced alongside the new sound engine. Additionally, 24 of the tanks have been given HD models and a new map set in war torn Paris called “Ravaged Capital” has been introduced. You can find the full patch notes on their website!

That’s all I’ve got for you today. Next week i’ll be at GDC, so I may or may not get a video out, or maybe i’ll do one from the hotel room, who knows, depends how I feel. Thanks for watching, see you guys soon!

ArcheAge

ArcheAge is an open-ended MMORPG from XLGames and Trion Worlds that seeks to free the player from the predefined paths and progression that has become a staple to the RPG genre. Described as a “Sandpark MMORPG,” the game lies firmly between the sandbox and themepark genres.

Players will play as one of four available races, divided between two continents. The Nuians and Elves dominate the western continent, while the Firran and Harani stake claims in the east. More than 100 unique classes can be created through the combination of up to three Skillsets, ranging from Battlerage, to Sorcery, to Shadowplay and more. Skillsets can be swapped at any time allowing the player to tailor their character to any preference or situation.

ArcheAge features a world driven by the player. You can become who you want, perfect the skills and crafts that you love and exploit them to make a living through the game’s player-driven economy. Farming and collecting resources will give you the necessities you need to create your own home, castle or even city through the use of city stones. But be wary, your creations are always at the risk of PvP attack. Constructed siege weapons and rallied armies can deal a devastating blow to even the greatest of powers.

The ocean promises to play a key role in ArcheAge’s player-driven economy. Build and equip ships, assemble crews and secure trade routes to work the seas to your good fortune. Or, take a completely different approach and pirate unsuspecting ships, taking advantage of those trying to make a decent living.

One of the more unique systems to be implemented in the ArcheAge is the judicial system. Commit an in-game crime? You could be subject to punishment by authority of the player run courts. Serving prison time and working off your debt — or attempting escape — is all part of this living, breathing world.

ArcheAge is a free-to-play MMORPG experience. For more information or to sign up, click the Play Now button.

Paragon, Valiance Online, HoTS , Idle Adventures and more! | The XP 2.19.2016

What’s up Attackers! Friday again, welcome to the XP, February 19th edition. Kirk here with Attack gaming and we’ve got an eclectic mix of games and genres to talk about on today’s show. First off I want to mention that I’ve set up a Patreon account at patreon.com/attack, and i’m going to make a little intro before the XP’s starting maybe next week, instead of Loot Crate, i’ll talk about it more then, but just a heads up. We want to continue making quality videos for you and it’s to get a buck here on YouTube, literally one thousand views is worth $1, so i’ll make a dollar on this episode, anyways, stay tuned for that. On today’s show we have Valiance Online, Paragon, Paladins, Heroes of the Storm and more! The XP, starts now!

After over a year of various testing phases, the City of Heroes-inspired MMORPG Valiance Online has begun crowdfunding in the form of PayPal donations. As the project has been going for some time now, the team is aiming to use donations to cover server costs and pay staff full-time, as well as introduce various features based on how much funding they get, which has become the norm based on the Kickstarter model. The base goal is $46,500 and is the team’s required “upfront investment” that will be used to “pay the bills and [their] employees.”  This level of funding will allow the team to invest more time into improving character creation, introducing Act 1 of the story, and creating “roleplay character attributes,” a quality-of-life feature that will be directed at roleplayers. Further levels of funding focus on more features up to $99,000, but i’m sure if they start getting close to that, we’ll be seeing an increasing number of perks. Social zones, a market system, a crafting system, later acts of the story, even more character creator improvements including the ability to save costumes, repeatable missions, player-owned vendors, a tutorial zone, and an open PvP arena are just a few of the new features listed. To see the full list, head over to the donation page which is valiance.shogn.net/donate . Currently the funding sits at just under three thousand dollars by about 40 backers.

Epic Games showed off a new gameplay video for their upcoming Unreal Engine 4 MOBA, Paragon. The video called ‘rush the core’ features several of their newest heroes like Sparrow, Gideon, while Dekker and Steel and Grux display an assortment of skills and powers on their enemies. The cinematic gameplay looks extremely cool and definitely makes a MOBA player like myself pretty excited about checking the game out, which .. what the hell, how come we’re not in the beat yet? FUCK. Players have been raising concerns regarding card packs in the free-to-play MOBA. Instead of buying items players create their own deck of stat-boosting cards before a match (a la Paladins). By collecting in-game currency they can then purchase additional cards. Hence, recent concerns that the game may provide unfair advantages to players with good credit scores. Cards are an easy system to justify microtransactions in games, but Epic Games recently assured Eurogamer that they will never sell card packs in the in-game shop.

Hi-Rez Studios and Evie, the Winter Witch, helped give us all a tour of the new map reveal for Paladins this week. The Glacier Keep map, which came to us with the Winter Wonderland Patch, is a new siege map and promises to deliver a varied play style when compared to the previous siege maps, Enchanted Forest and Temple Ruins. And that’s all I really have to say about that. Thanks for the tour Evie.

There’s probably nothing more frustrating in a multiplayer game, especially a MOBA, than an unbalanced matchmaking system. Because of the feedback that the team has been getting over this very fact, Blizzard has made a few changes to Heroes of the Storm’s matchmaking system. Good job players! The newly revamped matchmaking system dramatically decreased uneven matches from 44% down to a measly 3%. Apart from a team’s overall skill level the improved system also takes into account individual skill ratings, team composition, and party size so players don’t end up in a match of pugs vs clan: a scenario that solo players face all too often not only in Heroes of the Storm but in other MOBAs as well. Queue times, however, have been affected by the changes, but according to the devs, “We’re okay with [the] time gain if it means we’re creating high-quality games.” Blizzard is also working on further improvements such as preventing certain heroes, like Murky and Nova, among others, from being in the same team. And the developers have implemented a balance patch that slightly nerfs Rehgar, Li-Ming, and Stitches, while giving Anub’arak a better chance of survival.

If there’s anything I like more than locking a new class behind a paywall, then I haven’t found it yet. That’s why, when Devilian told us that the new Tempest class that they’ve been raving about since the Fury of the Tempest patch was first announced, was a measly $9.99, I was hooping’ and hollering’ and getting my wallet ready to dish out the cash! Yes, the new patch does add two new Archedevil dungeons, some level 54 gear sets, a new Raid dungeon and more, all for free, which you’d expect .. locking a class behind a paywall does seem a bit unfair. But then again, if you’re enjoying the game and grow tired of the classes at t his point, maybe it’s worth it. I’m probably not a fair voice as I grew tired of the game after a few hours of playing. Moving on…..

I’m not sure how many of our Subscribers here play mobile games, the video views for most of the mobile games we do don’t seem to be doing the best, but every once in a while it’s nice to talk about this massive, and might I add, still growing market. Jagex has announced Runescape: Idle Adventures, an upcoming idle RPG game for Android, iOS, and PC. The game is being developed in collaboration with Hyper Hippo (classic mobile game developer name). Jagex describes Idle Adventures as “Chilled-out, low-intensity gameplay sitting alongside deep character progression and a light-hearted, comedic story, with nuggets of RuneScape lore unveiled as you progress.” Runescape: Idle Adventures will be available sometime this Spring on PC as a free download on Steam and iOS and Android later in the year, also free to play. Jagex hosted a lifestream on Twitch this morning to talk more about the game, but we missed it, can’t be everywhere at once, I went through a bit of the replay but didn’t find any gameplay.

WEBZEN announced this week that Age of Wulin’s eighth chapter, “Uncharted World,” will be launching on March 8th. Uncharted World will increase the current world’s size by over two fold, adding eight new regions. Everything from deserts to “forests of stone” will be included. Six “secret areas” are also making their way into the game world. A new, survival-esque game mode is also being introduced where players will have to manage constitution, hunger, thirst, and even body temperature in the new zones. Those who survive will learn “new fighting techniques such as traps” and gain access to new resources. Age of Wulin will also be receiving a housing system. Players will be able to choose both the size and style of their house. Over 100 pieces of furniture will be in-game when Uncharted World launches, some of which give “powerful buffs.”

That’s the news i’ve got for you this week, thanks for watching liking and subscribing. I hope you all have a great weekend and we’ll catch you back on Monday. Cheers!

Escape from Tarkov, Pantheon, Rising Waters, Motiga and more! | The XP 2.12.2016

What’s up Attackers! Kirk here with Attack Gaming, bringing you the latest and greatest in the world of MMO gaming news for the week ending February 12th, 2016. There was actually a ton of stuff going on this week, although most of it is pretty bland, or at least, not super interesting, like the revenue reports from companies like Neon, Activision/Blizzard, and NCSoft, or Hi-Rez opening up a new European Office in the UK, and Motiga layoffs. Actually, let’s hit on Motiga after the break. The XP starts now!

Motiga, the studio behind the yet unreleased Windows 10 and Xbox One multi-platform MOBA Gigantic has announced another round of layoffs. On Febuary 9, the studio said that it had to layoff a significant percentage of its staff. The official blog post claims the layoffs are “temporary” and can be reversed if ongoing talks with potential investors pan out. Which essentially means, give us more money please, with a shit-eating grin. Gigantic has been in development since 2010 and has only now started to open up to the public. The game’s NDA was lifted just this week, and of course we got a first impressions video up for it minutes after the NDA went way, GO US, but the Closed Beta remains invite-only. Its not surprising that Motiga has run into financial trouble after nearly six years of operation without a shipped product. What’s unfortunate is how close the studio was to the finish line when it stumbled. The MOBA market as matured since 2010, with many new entrants like Smite and Heroes of the Storm filling the cracks left by League of Legends and Dota 2. Even if the studio can’t raise additional funds, Gigantic is just too close to being finished to go dark. I’m hopeful that either Motiga or someone else will pick up the pieces, put them together, and finally ship Gigantic.

Been a bit since we’ve heard anything about Visionary Realms and Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen. Actually, last time I remember filling my mouth with that game is when they closed their Kickstarter in February 2014 after not being able to meet it’s nearly $1 million goal. But I digress. Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen has been promising to take us back to the days of old when teamwork was necessary at all times. That usually means that there must be a solid healer class somewhere in the mix. Enter the Cleric, which was announced and teased this week by the team. In the lore, the Clerics “bind themselves directly to the ancient directives of their Order, guided by the written wisdom of the Celestials of ages past.” Clerics are healers without equal. They can also buff the defense of allies by using “powerful signets, potent writs, and ethereal armors.” They wear heavy plate armor or “plate-woven raiment,” using “one-handed blunt” weapons. The use of staves has largely diminished so that they can “carry their large tomes into battle.” You can find more information about the Cleric on the official website, but the worst part is they only have one damn image of the Cleric, so I can’t even go in and make a 30 second video with cheesy music and some moving pictures to poach some YouTube views. Lame!

Escape From Tarkov made quite the entrance when it was first announced back in November. Created by Battlestate Games—the creators of Contract Wars—Escape From Tarkov is promising something different than the current shooter genre provides. In it, you complete missions for one of two warring military factions and ultimately aim to escape the city of Tarkov. There’s been only one problem as of yet—we don’t really know all that much about the game. The developers though re hoping to change that and are slowly tossing out a set of video developer diaries. The first diary covers the lengths the team has gone to to ensure realism in the handling and sound of guns, as well as motion capture, procedural animation, and several other features. It’s an interesting watch and it gets the point across that they are aiming for authenticity. You can watch the video below via the link below and check out the Beta sign-ups are ongoing on the official website, escape from tarkov dot com.

Blade and Soul’s first major content patch, Rising Waters, is now live. The expansion challenges players to face the Blackram pirates once again in the new 4-player Bloodshade Harbor instance. Players who want more of a challenge can take on the 24-player version of the instance, Nightshade Harbor. The first seven floors of another dungeon, Mushin’s Tower, are now available. This is a single-player Heroic Dungeon that will require players to face more difficult challenges floor after floor for a chance at increasingly better rewards. You begin the tower by choosing an opponent from six different opponents, each with their own fighting style. If successful, you must then pick another opponent to face before moving on to the next floor. The full list of challenges can be found on the Rising Waters mini-site. The first five Hongmoon Levels have also been added. These levels allow advancement beyond the current level cap of 45. Each Hongmoon Level will grant players more skill and stat points.

En Masse Entertainment announced today that they will be publishing C4M’s tactical, competitive RTS Battleplans on PC and mobile later this spring. Battleplans is a different kind of RTS that “splits offensive battles and defensive planning into two distinct phases of the game.” Players are tasked with laying siege to NPC or player-controlled territories that are then defended with “comprehensive defense strategies.” An assortment of heroes and units are available to aid in accomplishing this goal. The developers are already boasting “simple, intuitive controls” that allow ease of use and quick decision making. En Masse CEO Chris Lee stated that “Battleplans is a great strategy game for players interested in actually controlling the units they send into combat. It provides engaging gameplay but isn’t bogged down by micromanagement.” A Closed Beta for the PC version will be held later this month before launching on Android, iOS, and PC later this spring. You can sign up for access on the official website.

Funcom appears to be trying to usher in a new era of Anarchy Online. There’s the new rendering engine. There’s a new website. And now there’s the new Rubi-Ka region, The Reck. The Reck is part of a content update that went live this week. You can enter the region through Tir and Omni-1 Trade The primary purpose of the zone is to provide players with “camps and encounters” that help them level level their characters through “title levels 4 and 5.” The region will be accessible to anyone, but dailies will be restricted to characters in the level 90-170 range. Encounters in this region are built for players in the level 90-220 range. Many of the camps will require players to explore to find them.

That’s all I’ve got for you today. Toss this video a like and a subscribe and i’ll see you guys next week! Ciao!

H1Z1: King of the Kill

H1Z1

H1Z1: King of the Kill is a post-apocalyptic zombie battle royale from Daybreak Games. The game is set fifteen years after an initial horrifying outbreak of the virus where players must survive against the infected, wild animals, and other survivors. The game was first announced by then SOE’s president John Smedley in early April of 2014. Heading to both the PC and Playstation 4 in late 2014, the game will soon be coming to Steam via Early Access.

H1Z1: King of the Kill puts players on a map for them to figure out who is the best, by having everyone kill each other.

The Culling, H1Z1x2, Bless Online Comes West and more! | The XP 2.5.2016

Welcome Back Attack!  Kirk here with Attack Gaming and today we’re going to finish off your week right, with a dose of MMO gaming news.  Some big stories on the show today, including what many have thought about H1Z1 for years now, Bless coming to the west, new stuff in Hearthstone, The Culling and more!  The XP starts now!

So, Daybreak Games just announced today that the zombie survival game H1Z1 will be splitting into two separate games on this upcoming February 17th, with the titles H1Z1: Just Survive, which will focus solely on the open-world-post-apocalyptic experience that the game was originally brought up on, and H1Z1: King of the Kill, which is the last player standing shooter that has become somewhat of a favorite of players over the past few months.  Players who bought into the Early Access for $19.99 will be getting both versions of the games, and all the crates, keys and items will be duplicated across both games.  The guys at Daybreak will also be splitting up the development team between the two titles and once split, the games will each cost $19.99 and will NOT be free to play at any point.  This may signal a change for Daybreak as a company going into the future.  Time will tell.

Devilian unveils a new class in its first major content update as Trion is set to release The Fury of the Tempest on February 18th in their free to play action RPG.  The Fury of the Tempest update will introduce a whip and blade wielding acrobatic warrior type character, which you can see in this iPod-esque trailer as we speak.  Trion says of The Tempest “the dynamic Tempest Class has mastered the art of blades in battle; she is skilled in both acrobatics and the transformation of the weapons she wields.”  Along with the new class, the update will increase the level cap to 54, add new gear slots as well as a new raid dungeon and two new Archdevil dungeons.  Trion is also hosting  live-stream on Twitch which begins at 2:30pm PST today, which is probably right around the time t his video is release.  So, the 50 of you who watch this video right when we release it should jump on over right now to twitch.tv/trionworlds

According to a Bless Online Fan Site a Neowiz Games Business Manager has confirmed that publishing contracts for both a European and North American release for the fantasy MMORPG Bless Online are being finalized as we speak.  Now, the important information like when the game will release and what business model will be in place were not discussed, at least not in front of the fly on the wall.  Bless Online is a medieval European inspired world that’s been torn apart by two warring factions.  The Korean open beta launched late last month after the dev team delayed the project for a number of major fixes, but an English release has been speculated for some time now after Neowiz released a trailer with English voice overs.  Stay tuned here for more details on Bless Online, should be a good one!

May 30th will be the last day that you can play in CCP’s PS3-exclusive first person sh otter, DUST 514, as the company has told us that they will be shutting the game down.  Not really a big surprise though, as I’ve heard next to nothing about DUST 514 in years, and the fact that most of it’s hardcore player base was playing EVE Online on PC, while DUST could only be played exclusively on the PS3, which was at the end of its time on its earth anyways.  The team at CCP Shanghai though has already moved on to a new project, this time it’s another first person shooter but .. for PC, GOOD!  The goal is to build a great FPS in their sci-fi universe of New Eden using the Unreal Engine 4.  The team will no doubt have much more to talk about during the EVE Fanfest this year which takes place at the end of April.

Hearthstone, Hearthstone Heart HuhStone will be introducing two new play formats coming this Spring as Blizzard this week announced the new formats for their Warcraft themed blockbuster trading card game.  The new formats will be titled Standard and Wild, which the goal to quote “keep the game fresh, exciting and accessible for years to come.”  The Standard format will be used in Play mode and will be available in Friendly Challenges, Ranked and Casual Play.  The decks in standard will be played using decks built from cards release both this year and last, and will be the format used in Hearthstone’s Championship Tour, starting this year.  The Wild format is the Hearthstone that we already know, and bears the name because quote “anything can happen” Any card you own can be used in a wild deck, and wild decks will be used to complete quests, climbs the ladder and earn Legend Rank.  Additionally, they are adding in 9 new deck slots to bring you up to 18, but only if you’ve unlocked all nine heroes.

Lastly there was a new game announced this week that seems pretty cool and something that I think a lot of you might be interested in, it’s a pretty cool concept, not super unique, and with the new H1Z1: King of the Hill game, this is basically a direct competitor, but the game is called The Culling.  The Culling is a survival based battle royale game where 16 players will be thrown together on a remote island, where they will have 20 minutes to craft weapons, set traps and ultimately come down to one player outlasting all the rest.  Think The Hunger Games, that’s what immediately comes to mind to me.  Like many other survival games, The Culling will be entering Early Access on Steam on March 8th and you can find out more information on their newly launched website, the culling dot com.

That’s all I’ve got for you today, thank you so much for watching and supporting us here at Attack Gaming.  Throw this video a like and a subscribe if you’re not already, and we’ll see you guys next week!

Master X Master, Riders of Icarus, SNOW and more! | The XP 1.29.2016

What’s up Attackers! Happy Friday, Happy January 29th and welcome to the XP. I felt like my email was bombarded with press releases this week, literally couldn’t even look away for a minute before getting another notification for some new browser-based blah blah with a new mini-chipmunk pet in it. So as always, I’ll try to sift through the news and bring up what I think are the most interesting stories for the week here on this episode of the XP. Let’s get it started.

The Duelist January 2016 ranked season will be coming to an end shortly, and for those of you who reach Silver, Gold, Diamond or S-Rank will earn some extra rewards, in the form of epic, legendary or rare card, sorry, card. You get one card, except S-Rank, who gets the monthly common and a random legendary. For those of you not in the know about Duelist, it’s a free to play, tactical turn-based strategy game. We’ve checked the game out on this channel, and had a pretty fun time, and you can too, like I said, it’s free, so type Duelyst, with a y, into your google box and find it.

We’ve seen very little from Gaijin Entertainment and Targem Games combat vehicle game Crossout, but a new video shows off some of the insane battles in action. The video highlights the crazy concoctions of vehicles that players can create, as well as all the explosions, and parts flying off in every which way that you can handle in any minute long stretch. Along with the video the teams have said that closed battle testing began on January 27th and will run through February 7th. You will need to have a special invitation in order to play, and there is a strict NDA that you have to sign, so I can’t say whether or not we got in or not .. YES I CAN, WE DID!! You didn’t hear it from me. You can sign up for the beta still, as there is what, 9 or so days left to play at crossout dot net slash en slash play.

Nearly two years ago, no, over two years ago, can you believe we’ve been doing this that long? Two-ish years ago a game really caught my eye, because it was about snowboarding. Now, one of my first memories from the playstation two from years and years and years ago, was this stupid little demo of a snowboarding game, I can’t remember the name of it now, and I’m too lazy to look it up, so maybe help me out in the comments, but that game was so incredibly fun, and i’d love to re-visit it. SO anyways, fast-forward, and I hear news of a free to play sports MMO, based on Snowboarding. That game, simply titled SNOW, is now finally on Steam for its open beta, starting yesterday. SNOW introduces free-roam, competitive events and leaderboards as it hits Steam, as well as the option to purchase cosmetic items to make your snowboarder look exactly how you think you’d look up on the slopes. The game is gorgeous, as you can see in the video, and also very fun to play, so go check it out on Steam now!

What is this, 2014? No .. no it’s not, but I guess it’s still cool to announce new MOBAs out into the world. I guess NCSoft has more of a name brand than company X with a MOBA that no one has seen before with some awesome new feature that we didn’t ask for. Anyways, NCSoft announced a new action MOBA this week, and I say announced because it looks like players have been able to play MXM, Master X Master, for some time now in the east. But Master X Master will be free to play, and it’s ‘unique’ feature will be the Tag System, which will allow players to swap between characters mid-combat. That’s basically what i’ve always wanted in Dota. The game already has a roster of 30 characters, including some characters from titles we’d recognize like Blade & Soul and Guild Wars 2. At this time you can sign up for the newsletter at play mxm dot com, but the teaser site doesn’t show much more than that.

Another new MMORPG was announced this week, this one is from Nexon and WeMade Entertainment and its title is Riders of Icarus. Riders of Icarus is an aerial combat MMO using flying mounts. I guess that’s not all it’s about, but that’s one of its distinguishing features. The main producer of RoI said of the game, that there are many games with dragons and other flying mounts, but they hardly ever impact battles in a meaningful and entertaining way. In Riders of Icarus, mounts truly add another level of challenge and excitement, delivering expansive vertical gameplay in addition to action-oriented ground mount combat. A local server beta test is actually going on right now, from Jan 28th to February 2nd in North America and our amigos to the south, Mexico. A larger closed beta test which will include Europe, Australia and New Zealand, will be coming at a later date.

One more story for the day. A new hero is joining the ranks of the free to play team shooter Gigantic. His name is, oh, her. Kinda hard to tell .. umm, her name is Beckett, and she is a ranged hero that focuses on being super fast and having explosive and pistols and grenades and cannons and jetpacks and all that fun stuff. With the release of Becket, the Gigantic team also announced that the closed beta test for Xbox One and Windows 10 is running 24/7 from now through the end of the weekend. AND, players can now share their experiences via streams. So even if you can’t jump into the beta for whatever reason, open up Twitch, search Gigantic and check it out for yourselves.

That’s all I’ve got for you today, please be sure to toss down a like, and if you’re not subscribed, go ahead and hit that button too, it’s free, doesn’t cost nothing, and really helps us grow the channel. Thanks again for watching, have a great gaming weekend and i’ll see you on the other side!
