Hey guys, I’m Mark
McDonald and you’re watching the Daily XP for today, Friday January 31st, exclusively from mmoatk.com. We’ve
got some good stuff for you today as we’ll talk about some fixes coming to
DayZ, another nod towards a State of Decay MMO annnnd… EverQuest Next Landmark
Alpha lands today and we’ve got some hands on experience to tell you all about.
Let’s get this started.

First up, it’s not
huge news, but a new update has been released to DayZ’s experimental servers,
introducing a few technical changes and some changes to popular weapons and
common animations. More specifically, a number of building mechanics have been
addressed, new spawns have been placed and slight tweaks to loot regularities
have been made. For those unfamiliar with the process, Bohemia Interactive
implements new patches on select experimental servers before giving it a wider
release, so standard players can expect to see the changes soon.
At this point a State
of Decay MMO is one of those things where the only thing not confirming its
existence is an actual announcement from Microsoft. The rumor mill’s been a
buzz today after Patrick Wyatt, co-founder of ArenaNet and En Masse
Entertainment joined the staff of Undead Labs and released a statement saying,
“I can’t talk anything about what I’m working
on here at Undead Labs … yet. … But … I specialize in developing really big
multiplayer games. So I guess maybe I’ll be working on something like that, at
least as soon as I get one of the cool lab coats everyone around here has.” So there you go, cryptic and yet not really
so. Make sure to keep an eye out for any announcements. We’ll let you guys know
as soon as we hear more.
And finally, the big
news of the day comes courtesy of SOE with the announcement that EverQuest Next
Landmark’s Alpha is finally and officially live! Purchasers of either of the
top two tiers of the EQNL founder’s packs can get their start in the sandbox
world and begin giving feedback that is crucial to the future of the game. We
had a chance to try out the game yesterday and I wont go into it in-depth here, but I’m cautiously
optimistic for everything that the game has to offer. We were told that the
game is currently about 60% complete, the tools for creation need some refining
and there is a steep learning curve attached to it, but the potential for what
can be created is absolutely off the charts. Those who have come to love Minecraft
and are looking for sort of the next step in terms of creation and complexity
should definitely look into this. Kirk and I each tell about our experiences
with the alpha which you can find in a separate video, linked over my face and
below, so be sure to check that out if you want to know more!
And that’s everything
for today guys, thank you so much for watching. If you liked what you saw, make

MMORPG news, coming at you daily. If you’d like to read more about Everquest
Next Landmark or anything that I covered here make sure to stop by our website,

enjoy the super bowl, and anyone getting into Alpha this weekend, drop us a
comment down below to tell us your thoughts! Thanks for watching.

EVE Online is known for its epic battles, and as Bethany
talked about yesterday, the battle of B-R5RB that started on Monday has become
the largest in the games history. I’m
not going to pretend I know a whole lot about EVE Online, but the dev diary
which explained just how much devastation went on leaves me in awe. So in celebration, if that’s the right word,
in celebration of the battle, EVE Online’s developers are constructing a
monument in the area, constructed from wrecked models of the brand new Titan
ship, which was introduced with Rubicon’s 1.1 release, which coincidentally occurred
right after the battle.
The next update in Stronghold Kingdoms, the browser based
MMORTS game from Firefly will set the stage for 32 medieval countries to wage
war on each other. The free update will
introduce the largest game world yet, with more player villages, countries and more
and will be introduced on February 13th.
Stronghold Kingdoms is still one of the ten most popular free to play
games on Steam, as it approaches its second birthday. Nearly three million registered players from
100 different countries play the game.
Lastly, Lost Saga, the online multiplayer brawler from I.O.
Entertainment and Nexon Europe has officially launched their new website. This comes just ahead of the games closed
beta test, which will begin at the end of February. The website features a host of details on the
upcoming brawler, and users are encouraged to visit and weigh in on exactly
what they’d like to see from the game.

You guys remember
Poseidon from SMITE? I mean we all know the god Poseidon had a lot of awkward
daddy issues being consumed by the guy and all that, but, now he has resorted
to sporting tiny man shorts and releasing inflatable ducks. You heard me right.
He also is beating other gods with his purple noodle. If this sounds appealing
to you, get this limited edition skin quickly because he is only available
until the SMITE release date on March 25th. He cost 600 gems and $5
is contributed to the SMITE launch tournament.
Collectors! How
excited are we when there is something precious to collect to set us just that
much further above the muck muck while in game? (and maybe in real life) Well,
the elder scrolls online Imperial Edition has been announced. This is a
special collector’s edition that comes in both physical and digital form. The
physical edition will get you a statue, a snazzy guide, a map of Tamriel, a
mount, a pet, the ability to play the imperial race, and Rings of Mara content.
The digital edition gives you all this, but, you guessed it, the tangible stuff
you can really get your hands on.
Now, this is what we
have been waiting for: human angst and misfortune. Yes, I’m referring to the
recent incident on “Eve Online” where $200,000 of real world cash was lost when
a coalition missed a payment on a station they were supposed to be protecting.
This resulted in thousands of players coming together in cold blood to take
part in the biggest battle this decade-old game has ever seen. 8 of the largest
ships in the game were destroyed. This game sounds insane and I want to play
it.
Alright guys, that’s
it. If you like this video and subscribe to MMO ATK we are all going to do a
bunch of high-fives here and some beefy early 90’s guitar riffs will play and
it will really make our day. Check out our website too at MMO ATK.com. Send us stories, send us stuff.

After much anticipation, Digital Extremes today announced
the immediate release of Warframe’s latest update on the Playstation 4
network. Update 11.5 brings new content
to the game and brings it up to date with the PC version, although about a
month behind. The PS4 update brings the
new Warframe Oberon, the Cicero Crisis event and a new forest tile set. Oberon is a paladin Warframe whose skillset
makes him both adept at healing allies and striking down enemies, while the new
event has you battling super plants with toxins in order to make way for new
settlements. Update 11.5 is available
now to download for free.
Now that the final open house event for The Mighty Quest for
Epic Loot has ended, Ubisoft has announced the final launch date for their free
to play hack and slash dungeon crawler.
The world of Opulencia will be open to all come February 25th, and with
it comes an array of new content and a brand new character. Those who played the Mage for the first time
during the last open house, can look forward to “The Runaway” which
is obviously not a character class, but that’s all we know about the class of
yet. The Runaway will have access to a
deadly mid-range attack and a badass musical axe.
Riot Games brandished a new press release early this morning
that basically bragged at how awesome their game is. And by awesome, they mean how many damn
people play thing. It’s been over a year
since they last released figures on how many players they have, but more than
doubling all those numbers across the board shows the incredible growth of a
game that was already super popular.
Let’s look at some of the numbers shall we? More than 67 million players play League of
Legends every month, more than 27 million players play every day, and during
each day’s peak play time, you can find more than 7.5 million players at any
one time. Imagine, 7.5 million players
playing right now, as we speak. No
wonder I can’t find anyone to watch my stream, you’re all too busy!

Transcript:
First off, late Friday SOE made their community aware that
they were shutting down four of its titles.
Free Realms, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, Wizardry Online and
Vanguard Saga of Heroes. The reasons for
each of the closures vary, but when it gets down to it, each game has had its
struggles recently, either with a small player-base, or the cost to keep the
game up and running, or lack of time to update.
Free Realms and Clone Wars Adventures will close up on March 31st, while
Vanguard and Wizardry end of July 31st.
Later that day John Smedley, President of SOE took part in
an Ask Me Anything on Reddit. He covered
questions ranging from the closures of the previous four mentioned titles as
well as gave fans something to look forward to.
When asked if he could launch a shut-down title, he chose Star Wars
Galaxies, stating that he would do everything differently. He followed that up with this “SWG
Players – Our next game, not announced yet, is dedicated to you. Once we launch it, you can come
home”. That tease along with a keen
reader on Reddit, who found an image to a trademark renewal for SWG, gives many
of us hope that there will be a new Star Wars game on the horizon.
Then, even later that day, on the EverQuest Next forums, a
community manager posted information on the all new SOE All Access Plan. It had been hinted at in previous weeks that
SOE would put together all their games into a nice and neat package that
included all their titles, and that’s what they have done. The SOE All Access Plan will include top-tier
membership level in all eligible SOE games.
These games include EverQuest, EverQuest II, DC Universe Online and
PlanetSide 2, for the PC versions only, as well as the upcoming EverQuest Next
and Landmark. Dragon’s Prophet may be
added in later. The pass will also
include 500 monthly Station Cash, as well as a 10% discount on marketplace
purchases and exclusive promotions and offers throughout the year. All that for $14.99, with discounts for
extended month plans.

Ten MMOs on Consoles
If you were one of the millions who found yourself purchasing one of the next-gen consoles late last year, you’re probably looking for an MMO to whet your appetite. Today we have the hottest console MMOs, both launched and upcoming, that you should be sure to keep on your radar.
Transcript:
For as long as consoles have had internet connection, game studios have been creating massive multiplayer games for them. Some early notable examples include Sega’s Phantasy Star Online from 2001, and Sony’s EverQuest Online Adventures a few years later. Despite these groundbreaking games, there’s no doubt in my mind that many of you feel that the best MMO experiences are found on PC’s. But, that may be changing.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn – PC, PS3 and PS4
After arguably one of the worst MMO launches in history, Final Fantasy a Realm Reborn is back and better than ever. Somewhat lost in the turn-around is the fact that the game was also released on the Playstation 3 with the Playstation 4 version coming later this year. The console version will be fully playable with a controller thanks to a revamped UI, or you know, you could just plug in your keyboard and mouse.
DC Universe Online from SOE launched on both PC and PS3 in 2011. After a switch to the freemium base model, the game gained momentum and was available on launch day for the Playstation 4. A feat in itself, Playstation 4 players utilize the same servers as the PS3 and PC counterparts.
Another Sony Online Entertainment title, PlanetSide 2 has had massive success on the PC and hopes to bring that to the PS4 when launched later this year. Console players shan’t need to worry about a clunky gameplay experience, because you’re used to a controller on first person shooters anyways.
As much as Bungie likes to say this is not an MMO, it really continues to sound like it is. Regardless, the next-gen open world shooter Destiny is slated to be available across the board with next-gen and previous gen consoles, as well as those PC elitists, all on the same date, September 9th. That’s a feat in itself.
The Division is an upcoming tactical shooter MMO in the Tom Clancy line of shooters that was announced during last year’s E3. Set in a post-apocalyptic New York City the release date has yet to be announced, but we do know it will be coming to the PC as well as next-gen consoles.
The Elder Scrolls Online is arguably one of the biggest MMORPG releases coming this year, and the fact that they plan on releasing on all the major platforms, including the Mac, makes us feel like the 7 year development time was well worth it. Release date for PC and Mac is set at April 4th, with PS4 and Xbox One coming in June.
War Thunder – PC, PS3 and PS4
War Thunder is a freemium flight simulator MMO that’s made waves on Steam in the past few months. The game has released on Playstation 4 in the EU region, but has yet to announce a release date in the US. Cross platform is not available at the moment, but the developer hopes to make it possible in the future.
Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade can be placed on your radar, as it’s not slated to release until 2015. This MMO is based on the classic Sci-Fi Warhammer license is slated for a PC, Xbox One and PS4 release. Again, not much is known as of yet, but some questions we have are cross-platform play and whether all platforms will launch at once.
World of Tanks has been available on the PC since 2011 and has been available on the Xbox 360 since this past summer. Each version has its own servers and you use separate accounts, which is a hassle for those of us who like to keep track of everything in once place, as the games are developed by two different divisions within Wargaming.
Warframe might be a stretch to be called an MMO. But a top 9 list, just doesn’t have the same ring to it. This co-op online action shooter type game is still technically in open beta on your PC, but fully released for Playstation 4 since November. Cross platform play is not currently available but will hopefully be implemented soon.
So those are ten MMO titles that will be featured on consoles. Now, some may argue that it’s still up in the air whether these titles will truly feel like their PC counterparts, and while there’s no denying that, It’s hard to deny that console MMOs will start to feel more and more like what we’ve come to expect on the PC. Give us your thoughts on Console MMOs below, and tell us which ones you are most excited about!

As the alpha testing for EverQuest next Landmark draws near,
Sony Online Entertainment have published an early set of system specs to give
users the time to upgrade their machines before the event begins. EverQuest Next has quickly become one of the
most anticipated MMO titles, so it’s important to have your rig ready to
go. The Minimum System Requirements are
asking for the windows 64 bit operating system, an Intel i5 Dual Core or higher
and 4GB of memory. The full specs can be
found on our website.
Earlier this month Trion Worlds announced the 7th Legion DLC
for Defiance, and today’s preview of the expansion sheds more light on what to
expect with next month’s launch. The
most exciting additions include joining Yoshida Hiro’s 7th Legion as they march
for the Bay Area, and a recruitment kit that includes an outfit, gear and a new
title. New weapons will also be
introduced, but unfortunately a much needed new location has not been included.
The final open house for Ubisoft’s Mighty Quest for Epic
Loot has begun and will conclude on Monday January 27th. The final open house will give all players
complete access to the entire Mighty Quest world, include the final character,
The Mage. This will also mark the last
chance to become a founder, which gives you access to many bonuses included in
the game. Check it out at the mighty

Bethesda and Zenimax Online Studios today announced the
voice cast for their upcoming blockbuster The Elder Scrolls Online. The franchise has long been known for its
high-quality voice acting, with previous stars including Patrick Stewart and
Lynda Carter, but the latest addition to the world of Tamriel boasts one of the
biggest casts to date. The following
actors and actresses have been confirmed: Academy Award nominee John Cleese,
Golden Globe winner Bill Nighy, Kate Beckinsale, Alfred Molina, Golden Globe nominee’s Michael Gambon and Malcom McDowell, and Linda Carter, best known for
her role as Wonder Woman. The developers
have a lengthy video highlighting the cast and their roles in the game, you can
find that on our website.
Sony Online Entertainment today released the latest developer
roadmap for their award-winning MMOFPS PlanetSide 2. The roadmap highlights the new content that
is coming to the game throughout 2014.
While the roadmap does not include specific dates for the updates, some
of the features we can hope to expect include Outfit Recruiting, to make
finding new recruits for your outfit more streamlined, a new continent Hossin,
which we got a sneak peak of at SOE Live a few months back, Outfit Base
Capture, which will identify if your outfit was a top contributor to capturing
a base, and more! PlanetSide 2 has long
been known for being more enjoyable by playing with friends and outfits, so a
few of these updates definitely will play up to that.
More from SOE with the brand new phase coming live for
Dragon’s Prophet. This new update offers
players the opportunity to embark on treasure hunts, which promise some of the
most powerful rewards seen in any event so far.
The main prize from competing in the gauntlet of challenges is the
coveted Laedis Hero Armor. In order to
obtain the armor you will have to defeat each of the 8 new world bosses. But
hey, it should be well worth your while.
And lastly I wanted to quickly touch on the latest update
for the open world winter sports MMO SNOW.
Today they released their M1 Game update which includes a slew of new
content and bug fixes. The most
important being that multiplayer is now available for all users, so be sure to
grab some friends to hit the slopes.
Additionally the main menu was updated with new functionality, the store
was redesigned with both new items and visual updates. You can now customize your character while
in-game, new sessions markers were implemented, a new in-air rotation system
was added, the half-pipe gameplay was improved.
Just a ton of shit going on now with SNOW, so go check it out on Steam!

The Hearthstone US Open Beta begins today as one of the most
highly sought after closed beta events in history comes to an end. How can I make this claim? Well, the over $134,000 made from selling
Hearthstone closed beta keys on eBay helps.
So yes, beginning today, anyone in the US can sign up for and play highly
anticipated trading card game from Blizzard.
A warning has been issued because of the anticipated influx of new players. It is also helpful to note that there will be
no more wipes, so players are free to amass as many new cards as possibly,
without fear of losing them. Have fun!
The latest champion to join Infinite Crisis is coming, and
it’s none other than Superman. Now, I can’t’
be the only one surprised that Superman wasn’t in the original starting
line-up, but I guess they had to make you anticipate something. In Infinite Crisis Superman will excel at
initiating and finishing team fights.
His skills include him spitting ice into your eyes to slow you down, and
shooting lasers from your eyes to deal damage and knock the enemy back. These are two skills that I had no idea
Superman had, but of course, he is Superman so, anything is possible.
The next big patch for Age of Wushu is due out next month
and Snail Games has released a small preview on their site to get players
excited about the new update. So what
should we expect? Well, the new Dragon
and Tiger Tournament will feature a series of one-on-one duels, with the
winners receive manuals, skills and pills.
There’s also the fourth internal skill unlock, which should give you
more edge in battle, and additional school lessons. I’m sure there’s more, but the teaser only
gave us so much!

Bit surprise from the DayZ camp, the next update has been
delayed! They should change the name to Delayed
Z, amiright? Just kidding, I stole that
from one of the comments. Anyways, the
latest update that went live yesterday was scrapped at the last minute because
of a bug that made players unable to loot corpses. That’s kind of a big deal in this game if you
didn’t know. The team hopes to fix the update
soon, which will bring a number of other fixes and adjustments including the
addition of some much anticipated items like the Shotgun, Hacksaw and the new
harbor town Svetloyarsk.
Today Square Enix announced a preview event for the upcoming
2.2 update in A Realm Reborn. The
previous update that included player housing and end-game content might be
tough to follow up but the team has scheduled a special live video event for
January 25th to focus on the release.
Among the things we can expect are ‘The Coming of Leviathan’ primal
event and additional details on the PlayStation 4 release. If you care to wake up at 4AM PST this
Saturday, you too can be the first to hear the details!
Facepunch Studios
founder Garry Newman has a lot to celebrate following the successful Early
Access launch of Rust. According to the
developer, Rust has earned over half of the revenue that his first title,
Garry’s Mod, has earned in the past 9 years.
To put that in perspective, Rust has been on Steam’s Early Access for just
over a month. What is Rust? Rust is an Indie RPG game where your only aim
is to survive.
